A fun idea of playing on band names on the band i've been checking for a friend. In case you are wondering, it's a synthcore band... Don't ask.

Another one, the same concept on I see STARS pic i did before. This one was a struggle. Maybe I'll think of a better idea, but it's ok for now.

Another one, but this one's a favourite.

Yay! Finally, finish colouring with the first page of the comic book. Well, actually there are few areas to quick fix. But overall its good. The colour-halftone style was a trail and error, but I like it. :)

degauser Version 2.0

It's bit better... SWEET!

Surreal pics...

Inspired by Mark Weaver and Luke Beard's awesome photo collage style. I just went for both medium style. Mark Weaver's circle with landscape and Luke Beard's A lyric a day.

Oh the song is Degauser by Brand New. I just shuffled my ipod 5 times until the first song. Went to read the lyrics and apply it.

I think i would play around with it more, i rushed through the process.

The first one is, As Dust Dances by Biffy Clyro.
The second is, Degauser by Brand New.

Ai, almost... But wait, I miss a spot! Dammit!

Man, I'm almost finish with the drawing of the comic book in blue lines. But I do feel an anxiety that its crap... I'm starting to neglect the mistakes and leave them there. Maybe, after the blue line drawing, I should step back and look through for any mistakes and correct them quickly and cleanly. Pass on to somebody to notify any more mistakes.

That means more time, before the inking can start...

Meanwhile, I love Lars Brown's web comic, North World. check it out.

Better yet, go buy it. I'm planning to...

Thrice: an influence and a music journey...

*EDITED* One of the bands that influence me throughout the years starting from the day my friend handed the copy disc of Illusion of Safety. The band was called Thrice...I was hooked onto the desperate and urgency of Thrice. From the vocals to the beats, it was a bliss.

Thrice is four guys all the way from Irvine, California, who just did come together naturally to write great songs since they brought out Identity Crisis. They are the reason I still play guitar and pushed me to play on bass guitar. Their albums were as follow: First Impressions, Identity Crisis, The Illusion of Safety, The Artist in the Ambulance, Vheissu, The Alchemy Index and Beggars.

I haven't heard the First Impressions, Thrice said they were songs they weren't happy with. The first time I heard from them was from the rocksound magazine during the The Artist in The Ambulance period(TAITA).

My friend lent me to Illusion of Safety and TAITA. At first, I wasn't used to screaming yet, but was going through the phase of understanding the screaming in the Screamo and Metalcore genres that was starting to get popular during that time.

Each of the guys in Thrice was important to the band, take one out and it wouldn't be Thrice I knew now. Each album they brought out, they grew progressively into better musicians. They never stick the same formula or keep the same style, but still be the Thrice.

They even inspired me to start recording songs like what they did in The Alchemy Index albums(there's two volume. I recommend both of them). They made their own recording studio and wrote The Alchemy Index and Beggars with out a producer. Teppei (guitarist) mixed and produced both albums.

The bassist, Eddie Brickenridge was a use inspiration to me on my bass playing. He's the reason on how fast I play on my bass and moving into the groove of the songs. I wish i could get his Gibson Grabber, it such a rare bass guitar. I do see the bass guitar popping everywhere. Even Mike Dirnt got it in the young Green Days era.

Thrice holds a special place in my heart.

I will post the comic stuffs soon. bit busy with other stuffs.

Here we are. finally a logo. hopefully i don't get bored with it.

Tuesday, March 23, 2010

Here's what I got so far... The light blue is added to pop the elements forward. The orange version was too disappearry. Managed to get the elements in my drawing style. Not sure what other element I should add.Aany suggestions? Think in terms of design/music virtuoso, thought of guitar strings, pick, etc for music side and red bull, eraser, etc for the design side.

Still working on the logo. Decided to take the old one off and concentrate the element first.

I repeat this is a MOCK UP! Not the final or going to be use at all. I needed to start somewhere. So I did mock up of an idea on the the concept of "rock ' n roll" design god. This was ok start, but the border, scroll, and me with pencil in hand would work. other element might have to draw in my style and blend with drawn portrait of me.

Well, let me know what you think... :D

XAM is my design name. MAX is kinda taken...
